Problem details:
Customer was trying to connect his SimpleTech SimpleShare NAS drive to his network without any luck
Solution details:
I've asked the customer to properly check all the cable connections. I've downloaded NasFinder that SimpleTech provides and was unable to find the drive in the network using his Windows Vista laptop. While researching the problem I came upon the following site that expains in full detail the reason for this problem and a solution: http://www.jimmah.com/vista/networking/ntlm.aspx 1. Click start 2. Type: regedit 3. Press enter 4. In the left, expand these folders: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ 5. In the left, click on the folder named: Lsa 6. In the right, double-click "LmCompatibilityLevel" 7. Type the number 1 and press enter 8. Restart your computer
