Customer wanted a general speed up of his computer.
Solution details:
A problem with Norton that was causing it to show an alert was actually not a problem with Norton at all but a problem with Windows. Automatic Updates were disabled and Norton didn't like that very much. I didn't re-enable your updates but did tell Norton to ignore that so it shouldn't be problematic for you anymore. It says things are operating normal now. However I did notice your subscription is expiring in 40 days. Rather than renew, I recommend you consider Avast Antivirus. It is a free antivirus solution that is very slim and resource-friendly. It's certified for 100% detection just like Norton and in my experience works just as well. The Home Edition is the free one and you can get it from avast.com just for giving them your email address. (They don't email you anything other than your license code.) Another problem area was in your startup programs. You had a ton of programs starting automatically with your computer that you probably don't even need. If the programs are starting automatically when you turn it on, then it's going to take longer to start. Since the programs are running in the background, it's also going to generally be slower because the computer is trying to balance those programs while you're working--and you're not even using them! I installed a program called CCleaner which goes through and removes unnecessary files. It found a lot of things left behind by your registry cleaner (I made a backup of your registry on the desktop so let me know if you have any issues and I can restore that backup.) It also deleted all your temporary files and other Internet files that can slow your computer down as they pile up over time. I did some general usability tests and your computer was very responsive. All of your hardware is operating normally and nothing is too horribly outdated. If you wanted to invest in anything, make it RAM; you have less than a gig which is definitely a little skimpy (real RAM performs better than virtual memory) although it's certainly nothing to rush to the store for when you have XP. As for software, I highly recommend Tune-Up Utilities which is really good at doing almost everything I just did automatically and reporting to you the results on a regular basis.
