External Hard Drive not Recognized by Windows
Problem details:
Customer was having issues getting their new Seagate external hard drive to be recognized within Windows XP.
Solution details:
I connected to the customer's computer, then found that there was a missing .dll file which was causing windows to not find the drive. I went into the i386 folder within Windows (which holds a backup copy of core Windows files), and found the file that was missing, and copied it into the c:\Windows\System32 folder. After this, I restarted the computer, and had the customer try out the hard drive to make sure it was working by copying some files over.
