External Drives Connection Issue
Problem details:
Customer needed help connecting his external USB drives to his Windows Vista computer.
"I had an external USB hard drive that has been connected to this desktop for about a year with no problems. It has stopped being seen by the system. When connected or disconnected from the computer, the USB makes the noise as though it sees the drive, but Vista does not see in the drive listing or Disk Management or in the device Manager. The drive works fine on my laptop. When connected to different USB ports, the computer does not try to install a new device driver."
Solution details:
Connected to the customer's computer via Teamviewer. Looked into diskpart and noticed that the drives were not connected. Tried to reinstall or redownload the firmware and drivers for the device, but the manufacturer did not have them available. Asked the customer to restart the computer and roll back to the "last known good configuration" to try and reverse the issue.
